Why is the course important/ Course Overview
This initial teacher, tutor, trainer qualification is designed for those who:
- are new to teaching, training or tutoring in the lifelong learner sector
- want to be a teacher or trainer in the lifelong learning sector
- want to update their underpinning knowledge and teaching or training skills
Qualification structure
There is one mandatory unit:
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (6 credits).
Duration of Course:
Blended approach (Expect to spend 30 Hours)
Previous Learning Requirements:
Basic understanding of IT is beneficial
Assessment:
Five assignments covering the teaching role, teaching and learning approaches, session planning, delivering inclusive sessions and assessment, and which include a minimum of 15 minutes observed micro teaching practice and a further 45 minutes observing others teach. Level 4 is assessed to a higher criteria than level 3.
Additional Information
This qualification is a requirement for all those who are new to teaching, training or tutoring in publicly funded provision.
Refresher/ Development Training:
This the first step towards the Level 3/4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector for those in an associate teacher role and/or the Level 5 Diploma for those performing the full teaching role.
