Why is the course important/ Course Overview
The Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events is a qualification for individuals who are currently working or are seeking employment in Event Stewarding/Spectator Safety industry. This qualification provides candidates with the underpinning knowledge, based on the NOS for Spectator Safety, required by the Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, (Red Guide, NI).
Module 1 – How to respond to injuries, Illnesses and other Emergencies at a Spectator Event How to respond to injuries and illnesses on a first on the scene basis
How to follow emergency procedures
Module 2 – How Stewards Control Entry, Exit and Movement of Spectator Events
Control the entry, exit and movement of spectators at events
Recognise and respond to illegal and prohibited items at spectator events
Help customers with their problems at spectator events
Deal with challenging customer behaviour at spectator events
Module 3 – How Stewards Monitor Crowds & Respond to Potential crowd Problems at Events
Recognise and respond to potential crowd problems at spectator events
Recognise and respond to illegal and unsociable behaviour at spectator events
Module 4 – How Stewards Prepare for Spectator Events
Understand the roles and responsibilities of stewards and other staff at spectator events
Prepare for their duties at spectator events
Check for and respond to hazards at spectator event venues
Duration of Course:
This course currently takes 40 Hours but a ‘blended’ approach is available
Previous Learning Requirements:
No formal entry requirements

Refresher Training:
Candidates are expected to develop their skills within 12 months
Assessment: Multiple choice question examinations and workbook
