Why is the course important/ Course Overview
An SIA licence is required to work as a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) operative covering Public Space Surveillance (PSS). In order to obtain an SIA licence you will need to show that you are trained to the right level. This applies to front line staff only. The course includes:
Module 1 – Core Learning for Common Security Industry Knowledge
Law in the Private Security Industry
Health and Safety
Fire Safety Awareness
Emergency Procedures
Communication Skills and Customer Care
Module 2 – CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) Specialist Module
Introduction to the Roles and Responsibilities of the CCTV Operator and other CCTV Staff
Codes of Practice, Operational Procedures and Guidelines
CCTV Equipment and its Operation
Control Room Communications and Access Control
Legislation & Dealing with Incidents
CCTV Surveillance Techniques
Emergency Procedures in the CCTV Control Room
Health and Safety at Work in the CCTV Environment
Duration of Course:
This course currently takes 3 days + Assessment.
Previous Learning Requirements:
None
Additional Information:
Candidates must ensure they meet criminality, Identification and ‘Right to work’ criteria.
Refresher Training:
Currently no additional training will be required for licence renewal in 3 years from being granted a licence.
Assessment: 3 multiple choice question examinations
